Success as Greenwich Nigeria Alumni Community formally launches

An intimate yet meaningful networking event for Nigeria alumni took place earlier this month, further strengthening international alumni and recruitment ties.

On Friday, 7 March the first official Nigeria alumni gathering took place at the Radisson Hotel in Lagos. The event was hosted by the University of Greenwich International Office’s Senior International Officer, Maggie Brown, and Regional Sales Manager (Africa), Temie Adeyemi, in collaboration with the Alumni and Fundraising team.

Maggie Brown spoke after the event saying:

It was a privilege to host our first Nigeria alumni event in Lagos, and we are truly grateful to the alumni who attended and contributed to making it such a meaningful occasion. The event was a fantastic opportunity for alumni to reconnect, exchange experiences, and strengthen both personal and professional networks. More than just a gathering, this marks the beginning of what we hope will grow into a thriving Nigerian alumni network—not only within Nigeria but also globally, fostering strong connections among Greenwich graduates worldwide.

A special thanks to alumnus Dr Amos Kuje, who completed a PHD in History, Politics and Social Sciences for delivering an inspiring talk titled "Making Your Mark – The Greenwich Experience." We also appreciate all the alumni who shared their journeys and experiences as University of Greenwich students.

To celebrate the launch and to keep the momentum of the wider Nigerian alumni community going, we are delighted to announce there is now a dedicated WhatsApp group for those alumni from/based in Nigeria.

To join, please email alumni@gre.ac.uk for the WhatsApp link. We look forward to developing further touchpoints with this community over time and encourage any ideas or feedback to be sent to alumni@gre.ac.uk.
