Northern Trust - A career in Finance? - A female perspective
As there has been a decline in the number of female job applications, Northern Trust are avidly searching to encourage women to consider a future in finance. This was achieved at our extended Big Picture Seminar with Northern Trust on Tuesday 12 February 2019.
Over 60 individuals attended the highly anticipated seminar which included discussions about the gender pay gap, senior job roles and opportunities within the company. The panel of women talked about their background, experience within the industry and what it is like to be a woman working in a variety of finance based sectors. Students were captivated by opening speeches from Teresa Parker, President EMEA at Northern Trust and Jonathan Sibson, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Business School.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our speakers from Northern Trust and notable alumni Kishan Kakad whom which this event would not have been possible without. Northern Trust announced their placement opportunities that they will be offering to students for the following academic year of 2019/2020. Catherine Anne Coltart, Vice President of Talent Acquisition EMEA and HR at Northern Trust answered several questions students had about the advertised placements, thus making the seminar more interactive and focused.
Those whom which attended the event were invited to participate in an exclusive opportunity to network with the speakers and their colleagues afterwards.
We are delighted to continue to support recognising excellence in women working in the finance industry. We would like to encourage students to 'take every opportunity out there and show them you are willing to learn' as said by Richelle Jane Basco, Oversight Fund Accountant.
