Bloomberg Trading Floor

Our Trading Floor is used for teaching students on many of our taught Accounting & Finance and Economics degrees. And, other Greenwich Business School students have the chance use the facility too by joining one of the space's scheduled drop-ins.

Bloomberg Trading Floor

A walkthrough of the Bloomberg Trading Floor at Greenwich Business School, where students work with live market data, financial analytics and real-time news through the same Bloomberg Terminals used across the industry.

What the Trading Floor looks like in practice

The Bloomberg Trading Floor is a dedicated space with 28 terminals, a live ticker tape and screens showing real-time financial news. It's built to feel like a professional trading environment, and students on a number of Accounting and Finance degrees use it as a regular part of their learning.

Bloomberg is the platform used across investment banks, hedge funds, asset management firms and central banks worldwide. It delivers real-time market data, company financials, historical analytics and trading tools, all in one system. The terminal has over 30,000 functions with data from over 300 global exchanges and trading platforms, and access to news from more than 120,000 sources.

Each workstation also includes statistical software such as Stata, EViews, Python and SPSS.

How students use it

The Trading Floor is built into the curriculum across several Accounting, Finance and Economics programmes. Students use it to access live company data for coursework and dissertations, run financial models, analyse market trends and develop investment strategies using real-world information.

Beyond timetabled sessions, other Greenwich Business School students can book into scheduled drop-ins to explore the platform and build their familiarity with it.

Bloomberg certifications

Students can work towards industry-recognised Bloomberg certifications while they study, including:

  • Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC): a self-paced course covering economic indicators, currencies, fixed income and equities through interactive modules and terminal exercises
  • Bloomberg Finance Fundamentals (BFF): an introduction to core finance and investing concepts
  • Bloomberg Spreadsheet Analysis: training on using Bloomberg Query Language (BQL) within Excel for advanced financial analysis

These certifications are recognised by employers across the financial services industry and add a practical credential alongside your degree.

Why Bloomberg access matters for your career

Employers in financial services expect graduates to be comfortable with Bloomberg. Having already spent time on the platform during your degree means you can walk into a graduate role with practical experience of the tools you'll be using from day one.

The Trading Floor is part of Greenwich Business School's broader investment in ensuring students leave with skills that are immediately useful in the workplace.
