How students study
Teaching Methods
Full-time: Learning is through a combination of lectures and seminars. You will discuss and develop your understanding of lecture topics in smaller group sessions. Contact hours may fall between 9 am and 9 pm, depending on your elective courses.
Part-time / Open learning: With open learning, self-study is supported by on-campus evening workshops and online webinars. A Virtual Learning Environment provides access to online study and library resources and to forums where you can work collaboratively.
Class Sizes
Class sizes vary depending on the course and module, particularly when modules are shared between degrees. Lectures are normally attended by larger groups, and seminars/tutorials are attended by smaller groups of 15 to 30 students. This ensures a high-quality, interactive learning experience.
Independent learning
Outside of timetabled sessions, you will need to dedicate time to self-study to prepare for coursework, presentations and exams. In particular, anyone studying via supported open learning will need to be disciplined and dedicate time to self-study. Our Stockwell Street library and online resources will support your further reading and research.
You can also join a wide range of student societies, including the Greenwich Entrepreneurs.
How MBAs are assessed
Your outputs and assessments may be based around the following:
- Real-world case studies in business
- Group work for discussion, research and presentations
- Business simulations
- Role play exercises and reflective practice for professional development
- Portfolio, outlining your learning achievements
- Self-study and research facilitated online.
The focus of assessment on our MBA is to test your understanding and ability to apply your knowledge.
Fees & finance
Your time at university should be enjoyable, rewarding, and free of unnecessary stress. Planning your finances before you come to university can help to reduce financial concerns. We can offer advice on living costs and budgeting, as well as on awards, allowances and loans.
