My name is Weronika Durlak and I have just finished my second year of BA (Hons) Marketing Management at the University of Greenwich. As a marketer, I am obsessed with customers and I am constantly strive to understand them. Therefore, I decided to dive deep into the Human Resources field to learn more about internal customers. Currently, I am an HR Summer Intern at Amazon Poland.
It is important to emphasize the great company's ability to adapt as the whole program is delivered virtually. The internship covers training in many areas of Human Resources, such as recruitment, talent management, diversity and inclusion and also conducting HR investigation. The internship involves many group discussions, projects and assignments that helped me to develop a wide range of skills, such as leadership and teamwork. I understood the importance of good communication and came out of my comfort zone significantly improving my interpersonal skills. I also took part in three projects that covered the topic of diversity and inclusive processes implication.
Besides theoretical knowledge, I have also gained a scoop of practice while shadowing interviews. This experience enabled me to better understand the process and see it from a different perspective. My whole journey at Amazon is monitored by my business mentor and supportive TA buddy. They play a crucial role by motivating, encouraging and supporting me every day.
From the university perspective, my PPD (Personal Professional Development) lecturer supported me during the whole application process and prepared for the interview panel.
I highly recommend everyone to dive deep into this module and continuously improve your skillset!
Identify your strengths and work hard on weaknesses as according to Jeff Bezos "The keys to success are patience, persistence, and obsessive attention to detail".
I would love to come back to Amazon after graduation as a full-time employee! That was an AMAZing experience!
