Senior Lecturer in Public Health Awarded Funding by ESRC’s Secondary Data Analysis Initiative

Kafui Adjaye-Gbewonyo is the principle investigator of the two year project.

Kafui is interested in social and contextual determinants of health, global health and chronic/non-communicable diseases, especially in the Africa region. She uses quantitative methods to analyse large population surveys. She is also involved in interdisciplinary and qualitative research. Kafui is the principle investigator (PI) of a two-year project recently funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)’s Secondary Data Analysis Initiative. The project is entitled, ‘Explaining Population Trends in Cardiovascular Risk: A Comparative Analysis of Health Transitions in South Africa & England’ and is in collaboration with Dr Annibale Cois of Stellenbosch University. Kafui is also part of an interdisciplinary project funded by the UKRI’s Global Challenges Research Fund on the context of diabetes in Ghana. This is a collaborative study with researchers at University College London, University of Ghana, University of York and University of Melbourne.

Professionals from related fields will work closely together with researchers and stakeholders from public, charitable and voluntary organisations. Together they will develop effective and economically sustainable lifecourse solutions and tackle the grand challenge agendas society faces.
