Many reasons to choose a degree apprenticeship
There were many reasons the degree apprenticeship route stood out to Matthew. In his words, he describes an apprenticeship as an opportunity to start climbing the career ladder, complete an undergraduate degree, and earn money throughout the degree journey.
I chose the apprenticeship route as I wanted to get a degree without getting into student debt, whilst earning an income on top of that, with four years of experience in the industry at the end of it.
The University of Greenwich came recommended to him, as his mother and sister had also studied there. Both had positive experiences of the university, and it was their recommendation that convinced Matthew this was right place to study his degree apprenticeship in Digital & Technology Solutions.

A university that supports you
Degree apprentices benefit from the knowledge they gain in their apprenticeship, and support from lecturers, technical teams and support staff, including the Employability Team. For Matthew, having the support from his lecturers meant he has been able to balance his work commitments with his studies.
Matthew most appreciates the university’s diversity.

He concludes that his degree apprenticeship has already led to opportunities, explaining that he began his apprenticeship as a trainee and is now working as a senior manager – fantastic work experience that will set him apart from other job applicants when he completes his apprenticeship.
