Digital Champions

TLDRoffon

Our Digital Champions are students who work alongside the Academic and Digital Skills Team to help provide an insight into the needs of students who are doing much of their studying online.

The Academic and Digital Skills Team runs a Digital Champion project to support students with peer-assisted online learning. Our Digital Champions work as student mentors to provide digital skills and capabilities support to new and continuing students at all levels.

The Champions are available to run bespoke sessions embedded in teaching on using Microsoft Apps including Teams. For example, they can provide demonstrations of how to conduct group work online, or how to deliver online presentations, drawing on their own experiences as students.

The Digital Champions will run online drop-ins and one-to-one appointments under the guidance of the Academic and Digital Skills Team. All sessions will be student-led with the aim of providing a role model in digital learning that will help students grow self-confidence.

For more information or to book a Digital Champion to deliver a training session, please contact: Sharon Perera (S.R.Perera@gre.ac.uk) and Tom Perry (T.Perry@greenwich.ac.uk).

Please signpost your students to our digital skills workshops, drop-ins and one-to-one appointments.

The Digital Champions will provide digital skills and capabilities support network within the student community, led and delivered by students. Specific aims are:

  1. To provide a role model competent in digital learning that will help students grow self-confidence and self-belief.
  2. To provide digital skills support through coaching, teaching and sharing experiences of online learning strategies. And to model positive online behaviours including a independent learning, good netiquette and confident engagement in online learning.
  3. To provide a sense of belonging where students can feel safe in the knowledge that they are part of a wider community with shared values and goals.
