Big money and big opportunities at industry-best recruitment event

A £41 billion a year industry is bringing its leading recruitment event to the University of Greenwich for the fifth time this month.

MPI Connects brings together employers from the events management industry with the latest cohort of graduates (under and post) from across the UK. The event takes place on Wednesday 24 April.

Jessica Templeton, Senior Lecturer in Events Management at the university, says: "Events bring in about 35% of the UK visitor economy with conferences and related events contributing over £21 billion a year.

"It's a great industry to work in and MPI Connects has become the leading event for pairing up entry-level applicants with some of the biggest names. Employers such as George P Johnson, Smyle, and Grass Roots Meetings & Events are among the premier names in the field.

"There will be 'speed interviews' with over 25 candidates, as well as a cocktail reception.

"Many of our graduates go on to good jobs and come back to see our students. Hannah Luffmann graduated with a BA in Events Management in 2010. In 2016, she founded Unicorn Events, which won the Best Small Agency Award at the Conference News Awards last month.

"She has been engaging with the university to provide internships and placement years for our students, who often stay on as full-time employees.

"Meeting Professionals International (MPI) members and non-members are welcome to come. Candidates should bring about 30 copies of an up to date CV to give to employers. They must have the necessary permissions to work in the UK in order to participate."

Sue Massey, operational director at Grass Roots, adds: "We've taken part in MPI Connects every year since its launch. Each year, our HR team has been hugely impressed by the calibre of the candidates we've met. It's an excellent initiative and one I would whole-heartedly recommend to other industry employers."

Employers and job seekers can register online.
