Celebrating our recent Academic Promotions

Last week, we marked the success of the 80 staff promoted this year as part of the university’s Academic Framework at a celebratory event.

Academic Promotions Celebratory Event 2022

The event was attended by colleagues who were successful in their Academic Promotions at the beginning of October 2022, as well as by Vice Chancellor Professor Jane Harrington, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane Roscoe and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange) Professor Andrew Westby.

During the event, the Vice Chancellor opened with a welcome address followed by a promotions roll call from Professor Jane Roscoe and Professor Andrew Westby.

Colleagues then heard reflections from senior faculty leaders Professor Derek Moore (FEHHS), Professor Peter Griffiths (FES), Professor Leigh Doster (GBS) and Professor Zoe Petit (FLAS).

“I am delighted to see so many staff in FEHHS promoted in this round.  The promotions rewarded staff with sustained and significant contributions to teaching, research and knowledge exchange, with many having impressive internal and external impact on pedagogy, policy, practice and discipline knowledge.” Professor Derek Moore, Pro Vice-Chancellor, FEHHS.

"FES warmly congratulates those colleagues who were successful as part of the most recent promotion round. The impact that colleagues have on our learners, external communities and stakeholders was very evident in the paperwork, wherever they are located near or far. Colleagues recognised here have demonstrated sustained contributions across the wider range of academic activities, doing so in a profession-tailored manner.” Professor Peter Griffiths, Pro Vice-Chancellor, FES.

"I am delighted that so many GBS colleagues have been recognised and rewarded for their hard work and outstanding achievements in this year’s academic promotions round. The faculty has been through a lot of change this year and it is fantastic to see so many people striving ahead taking initiatives and innovating despite this. The event itself was fabulous and a great opportunity to bring everyone together to celebrate and socialise." Professor Leigh Doster, Pro Vice-Chancellor & Executive Dean of GBS.

"I am delighted to congratulate all colleagues who were successfully promoted this year in FLAS. There were promotions across all four of our Schools, from Senior Lecturer through to Professor, and in a range of subject areas. Every promotion was very well-deserved. I look forward to seeing how colleagues continue to progress, making a difference in their areas and inspiring others to achieve their career ambitions too." Professor Zoë Pettit, Deputy Dean, Acting Pro Vice Chancellor,FLAS.
