Celebrating our postgraduate community

Here we share a snapshot of some of the work and activities happening across our postgraduate community

What's making us proud

Ivis Williams, an MSc Financial Management and Risk student, has won her place back as a councillor with Greenwich Council. Congratulations Ivis.

Moninich Pheng, also studying on the MSc Financial Management and Risk programme, has shared their experience studying a master's degree at Greenwich. Thank you to Moninich for sharing.

Pursuing a master’s degree in Financial Management and Risk at the University of Greenwich has been an exciting and challenging experience for me. With rich cultural diversity, strong academic support, and a congenial environment, I am able to obtain a type of education with both theoretical and real-world applications that would help boost my future professional career trajectory in the financial field.

Berna Uzun, studying MSc International Banking and Finance, has shared her experience of being a postgraduate student at Greenwich. Thank you to Berna for sharing.

Allow me this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Berna Uzun and I am a postgraduate student at the University of Greenwich. I have also completed my bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance at the University.
This is my fourth year here and I can say that I just love it! The location is one of the top places for me.  The modules are well organised and the University staff are very helpful.

Innovative teaching

Dr Anusha Pappu, a Lecturer in Business and Management, has shared good practice on the Executive MBA programme which students found very helpful and welcome support.

On one of our modules, Responsible Leadership and Development, students are offered coaching as a part of the module, and it is seen to add value to our students. Coaching provides interesting insights into two areas - the students’ general personality as it might impact on work performance and also how a person might be best positioned in terms of career goals. The personality types have been developed over years through the experiences derived from over 30,000 interviews! The coaching probes deep, making students address aspects of their personality and its impact, in a challenging, but ultimately insightful way. We see this as an innovative offering into teaching as it suits the module and fits to the needs of our students. They learn and evolve as leaders through this method which I believe is unique to our Executive MBA.

Professor David Evans, OBE NTF, Professor in Sexualities and Genders: Health and Well-being, has shared about his work to provide knowledge exchange using Adobe CC Express.

At the start of Covid, I designed an Adobe CC Express page, which has now been seen (nationally and internationally) by over 1,600 people." The guide shares tips for e-Teaching, Learning & Assessing in the era of COVID-19.

He has also created two training pages on two training pages, on Adobe CC Express (formerly Adobe Spark) and Adobe Premier Rush that he has run as CPD for staff across the University. Last July, he was selected as one of AdvanceHE’s global “Torch Bearers” for his work on boosting technology enhanced learning.

David has also shared,

I was asked to produce these ideas and resources into a book chapter, which was publish in March: Digital connection in health and social work - perspectives from Covid-19 (Eds. D. Turner and M. Fanner, 2022), which is now in our library, so I can share it with students and get them to build their own creative digital literacy with us. This is a great added bonus for our students, coupled with a further Express resource, enhancing their wider academic citizenship.
