Space Usage during August
At the beginning of July, the UK Student Recruitment Team relocated their operations to room D250 in Dreadnought (Greenwich Campus). This is to aid the high volume of phone calls and enquiries that are received in relation to Clearing. D250 during term time is a student study space, so if you receive any queries from students wanting somewhere to study, please direct them to alternative spaces such as Stockwell Street Library, Open spaces in Dreadnought and the various PC labs across the Greenwich Campus.
As we edge closer to results week (14-18August) rooms will be inaccessible and dedicated to supporting the Clearing operation as follows:
- Queen Mary rm446
- Fry Library Lab (Avery Hill)
- Nelson Lab (Medway)
- Mary Seacole S211
- Various rooms on Floor 2 of Dreadnought.
UKSR apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to staff or students, and appreciate your patience and understanding during this business critical time. For any queries or questions regarding Clearing space usage please contact Lee McMahon, Deputy Head of UK Student Recruitment.
Embargo
This year's Results Embargo is: 06:00pm Monday 31 July until 08:00am Thursday 17 August.
The results information we receive is under strict embargo to prevent examination results being leaked to prospective students before their official release. Any breach may cause destress for applicants. The potential penalty for a university breach could be for UCAS to revoke the right to receive the results in the future, which would severely hinder a university’s ability to recruit home applicants.
Guidelines
There is a blanket ban on all applicant communications (Home and Overseas), whether via the CRM or ad-hoc, unless the communication has been prior approved by Lee McMahon, Deputy Head of UK Student Recruitment. No communications to applicants should be sent during the embargo period without prior approval.
If staff receive enquiries from applications during the embargo period the message staff should give to any students awaiting results is: “your status is not confirmed until you have received your results.” Staff must not allude to any embargoed exam results or change in student status (for example that a student's place is now confirmed).
Training
To support preparations for embargo and prevent a breach, all staff who come into contact with applicants or new students during the summer (such as Wellbeing Services or registration), or who work with applicant communications, should complete the online Embargo training provided by UCAS. The training is designed for all staff (academic and professional service), will only take 10-20 minutes, and contains some very helpful examples of breaches. As in previous years, staff completion of the training will be monitored and reported to line managers.
