Data Protection, Privacy and you – some reminders

Each of us have responsibilities in these areas to follow university policy and procedure, and complete the mandatory online training module.

It's part of the university's responsibility to ensure staff have up-to-date information on these policies and procedures, which you can find below:

In addition, there is also a half day face-to-face training workshop Managing Information – Keeping it Legal –which provides information and advice to help you manage information effectively, working within relevant legislation.

It runs on each campus, and is next running on 7 November at Medway campus, for more information and how to book please see the Staff Development hub.

The university's Privacy web pages set out our commitment to processing personal data in line with Data Protection legislation, more information on how we do this is available on these pages.

We have recently updated our Codes of Practice in line with GDPR, these are aimed at all members of staff and include:

  • Responsibilities of all staff when collecting and processing personal data
  • Distribution of or access to personal information and Disclosure of information – what to do
  • Marketing to data subjects.

If you have any questions please contact Lucy Fincham.
