Dr Louise Hewitt, National Teaching Fellow 2021Today AdvanceHE have announced 55 new National Teaching Fellows and we're really proud that Dr Louise Hewitt, Lecturer in Law and Director Innocence Project London, is one of those.

Louise has developed the work of the Innocence Project London to provide opportunities for law and criminology students to undertake clinical legal education in the context of investigating claims of innocence from convicted individuals who have maintained their innocence but exhausted the appeals process.

The Innocence Project London, a pro-bono clinic dedicated to investigating wrongful convictions, is the only UK member of the international Innocence Network based in New York.

On her award Louise said:

I am delighted to be recognised as a 2021 National Teaching Fellow. It reaffirms the privilege it is for me to engage students with the issues facing the criminal justice system through the work of the Innocence Project London.
