We’re excited to announce that our Employability Service has been selected to participate in an innovative research project that explores the career experiences of neurodivergent students in the chemical sciences. This prestigious project is led by the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) and is supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry’s (RSC) Inclusion and Diversity Fund (IDF).
The project aims to deepen understanding of the unique career challenges and opportunities faced by neurodivergent students, with the ultimate goal of developing valuable career resources for both the RSC and AGCAS. These resources will serve to highlight best practices and support inclusive career development across the chemical sciences sector.
Our university will be contributing to this study by recruiting four to six neurodivergent chemical sciences students to participate in a 90-120 minute focus group. The initiative will be led by Employability Skills Advisors Sinéad Grimes and Savannah Garcia, in collaboration with colleagues from the School of Science and STAART. Their combined efforts will ensure we attract a diverse group of students to share their experiences and insights.
The findings from these focus group sessions will not only benefit the students involved but will also shape the future of career support for neurodivergent individuals across the chemical sciences. We are proud to be at the forefront of such an important initiative and look forward to seeing the impact of this project on the wider community.
We extend our congratulations to Sinéad, Savannah, and the team for their hard work and dedication!
