Forensic science at the university now has six degrees accredited by The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.

The courses have a 100% student satisfaction score in the National Student Survey (2019), putting them top in their category in London.

Associate Professor Linda Brownlow, a former head of crime scene training at the Metropolitan Police, leads the forensic science department at Greenwich.

She says: "This is more good news and confirms the great work happening here. With police forces struggling for time and money, the training given to forensic science students at the University of Greenwich is vital.

"Anything from murder to stolen documents can be set up in our crime rooms, as well as our new motor crime examination facilities.

"Over half the students' work is practical. If they learn something on Monday, they're trying it out on Tuesday. We sanitise the room, set up the crime and bring the students in.

"Some of our graduates go on to managerial roles as the programmes teach them a lot of the skills needed – crime scenes need a lot of managing. To have this extended validation from The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences is vital to demonstrate the workplace credibility of our forensic provision."

The newly introduced degrees: BSc (Hons) Forensic Science with Industrial Practice and BSc (Hons) Forensic Science with Criminology and Industrial Practice join our BSc (Hons) Forensic Science; BSc (Hons) Forensic Science (Extended); BSc (Hons) Forensic Science with Criminology and BSc (Hons) Forensic Science with Criminology (Extended) in gaining this sought after stamp of forensic quality.
