Funding won for two-years' worth of student-centred projects

TLDRoffon

We have successfully won funding to develop a new two-year student-focussed project.

The Office for Students Knowledge Exchange funded project will give 400 students the opportunity to engage in consultancy through eight different two-day 'hack' events. Fifty students at a time will take part in the events with a variety of partner organisations including Peabody, GCDA, Cundall and the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Twelve-week paid internship opportunities will also be available at some of the host organisations.

Students will work in teams to deliver solutions to real problems the organisations are facing, developing new entrepreneurial and employability skills, while using their existing skills and experience to offer unique insights for different employers.

The impact of the project on students and graduates will be evaluated and will contribute to a body of research into 'what works' in effective knowledge exchange, which will be used throughout the Higher Education sector.

The project will be led by the Generator team in the Powerhouse. Following on from the hacks, students will be offered the opportunity to develop their ideas into start ups where relevant, supported by the Generator.

The project is expected to start in August 2020. Staff and students who would like further information about the project can contact generator@gre.ac.uk.
