Get your free pronoun badge for International Pronouns Day

Wednesday 21 October is International Pronouns Day - this day is dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of respecting, sharing, and understanding pronouns, and the role they play in creating inclusive environments.

Colourful round badge pins, each with unique pronouns He/Him, She/Her etc writtenThis year, The LGBT+ Staff Community Network is celebrating by providing pronoun badges for staff to collect across all three campuses. Something as simple as wearing a pronoun badge can help foster a culture of inclusion, demonstrating that everyone is welcome and respected for who they are. It can also help create a space where people feel comfortable expressing their identity with confidence.

Pronouns are an important part of a person's identity. Using someone's correct pronouns acknowledges who they are and demonstrates respect, dignity, and inclusion. For many members of the LGBT+ community, introducing or reaffirming their gender identity can be an anxious experience, particularly when meeting new people. In today's social climate, some individuals continue to face challenges and misunderstandings around pronoun use, making allyship and respect more important than ever.

On International Pronouns Day, the LGBT+ Staff Community Network invites all staff to take a moment to reflect on how we can help create environments where pronouns are welcomed, respected, and used correctly.

Be part of this moment.
