Greenwich Students' Union: Black Excellence

TLDRoffon

GSU is celebrating Black History Month throughout October, highlighting Black culture, Black Women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), The Black Pound, and Black Mental Health. with portraits of Greenwich students and staff, online talks, and a focus on Black mental health.

GSU are also adding to their portraits series. In 2019, we took some portraits of Greenwich students in leadership positions both inside and outside our community, a co-author of a best-selling book, CEO of a company that supports those with Dyslexia to unlock their full potential, and university staff members who are Professors and Doctors and have been recognised for going above and beyond for students at Greenwich through our Student Led Teaching Awards.

Black mental health

The GSU Advice Team believes you deserve to succeed and to feel proud to be black while doing so.

As young Black people engage more fully with social institutions, structural racism can be seen to increasingly impact their mental health. We know black students face their own unique set of challenges while at university. We offer free and confidential advice for all students on a variety of academic and non-academic issues.
