TLDRoffon

Dr Jing Bian from the School of Law and Criminology is working with the United Nations Development Programme and shares about their work.

From the School of Law and Criminology, Dr Jing Bian is working with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) "FairBiz - Promoting a Fair Business Environment in ASEAN" on a study entitled: "Women Entrepreneurs as Drivers of Business Integrity in Emerging and Developing Markets - A Practical Approach".

Funded by the UK Government and the ASEAN Economic Reform Programme, the FairBiz Project works in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam, and brings together stakeholders from government, private sector and CSOs.

The FairBiz Integrity Hub inspires leaders in government and business to develop and implement clear rules and regulations fairly and efficiently. It consists of six Platforms: Integrity in Government Institutions, Youth & Entrepreneurship, Diversity & Inclusion, Global Supply Chains, Procurement, and Impact Investing.

Recently, there has been a gradual but significant shift in women's anti-corruption role. UNDP FairBiz's initiatives in Thailand and Indonesia have, for the first time, produced empirical evidence of how practical training can have an impact on women-led businesses and how it can create the beginnings of a social movement led by women entrepreneurs for women entrepreneurs.

Based on the experiences mentioned above, Dr Jing Bian is examining how to efficiently mobilise women entrepreneurs to promote business integrity in emerging and developing markets.

She feels thrilled about this new social movement and proud to be part of it.
