Join us before 18 December for the Big Hog-Friendly Lockdown Litter Pick Challenge

Help Hedgehogs in your community by taking part in the national Litter Pick Challenge – litter picking packs available (first come first served)

It is all about helping hedgehogs (and other animals) preventing them from coming into contact with potentially harmful plastics and litter.

We are one of over 80 universities who have signed-up to the campaign to help support the survival of Hedgehogs. The university who collects the most will win a hedgehog home and food for their campus.

Litter Picking and Being Covid-19 safe

Litter picking does not have to take place in groups or on campus. You can litter pick with those you live with, support bubbles or simply on your own. If you can't access one of our campuses, you can litter pick the area you live, a local park or around student residences. Please adhere to the guidelines.

For General Guidance on litter picking please click here.

How you can help Hedgehogs

  • No need to sign up, just start collecting
  • You can collect litter anywhere in your local area, this doesn't have to be on campus, as many people are studying/working remotely
  • Get others involved, they don't have to study/work at the university

Everyone will receive an e-certificate and students you will be able to receive passport points for the time spent.  Given the lockdown, it will be calculated by the number of bags in photographs.

Please email sustainability@gre.ac.uk your photos of the amount of litter/bags you have filled.
