The competition

It asks London’s students to come up with viable, sustainable business ideas, and aims to create growth that makes London cleaner, greener and ready for the future; and, to ensure students see entrepreneurship as a viable career path and get the skills they need to succeed.

This year there are 5 awards with each of the winners receiving £20k to start up their business along with expert mentoring from staff at City Hall to get their idea to market.

My name is Ayan Samatar and I'm in my final year studying Chemical Engineering.

Mayor's Entrepreneur is a competition where students come up with viable, sustainable business ideas to make a London a better and safer city.

It offers opportunities about:
- Developing business-related practical skills
- Attending workshops to engage with professionals
- Networking with students from other prestigious Universities
- Bringing ideas to life to address the challenges facing London today
- Winning £20k for the innovative proposal
- Kicking-off one’s career

Each year there are free pre-applications and post-application workshops for students.

My advice would be come up with an original idea: What makes your idea new for London? How is it better and smarter than what's already out there?

This is free to participate and open to all students at Greenwich.  The next winner needs to be from Greenwich! So fill in the application form!
