The Vice-Chancellor’s Group have approved to pause or stop some academic administration processes, aiming to make things simpler for academic staff as we prepare for blended learning next academic year.

As we prepare for blended learning next academic year, we want to make things simpler for academic staff by pausing or stopping altogether some academic administration processes, subject to maintaining academic quality.

The Vice Chancellor's Group has today approved a series of simplifying measures, following recommendations from a group composed of senior Greenwich Learning and Teaching staff and all four faculty Directors of Learning and Teaching.  These include:

  • No NSS Action Plans to be prepared this year
  • Simplified Annual Programme Review and Module Monitoring Reports
  • Deadline for submission of May 2021 exams to be deferred to January 2021
  • Where there is an agreement between the External Examiner and teaching teams an extension to the tenure will be granted by informing the Faculty Learning, Quality and Standards Committee.
  • Programme Committee meetings to be reduced from three to two per year
  • Reaffirmation of policy that programme teams can introduce guided learning weeks, subject to any PSBR requirements
  • No programme handbooks required for 20/21 (subject to providing information required by students on the programme Moodle site; and work in hand to remove need for module handbooks the following year by means of a new Moodle template.
  • Suspension of Peer Observation Scheme for 20/21

These changes have been agreed for 20/21, and their impact will be kept under review.
