Marking Stephen Lawrence Day - Friday 22 April

We will be holding a reception in the Stephen Lawrence Gallery hosted by our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane Harrington. We are honoured to welcome Stephen’s mother, Baroness Doreen Lawrence OBE, who is part of our Greenwich alumni community.

Our university community will be marking Stephen Lawrence Day on Friday 22 April to commemorate the life of the 18-year-old who was murdered in an unprovoked racist attack almost 30 years ago.

Stephen Lawrence Day was first celebrated in 2019 and takes place annually on 22 April, the date of Stephen’s death. The day is marked officially in the British calendar as a celebration of Stephen’s life and legacy. This year marks 29 years since Stephen’s death.
