Medway Talks: join Dr Neil Saunders on 22 February for an exploration of Mathematics, Memetics and AI

Medway Talks is a free open lecture series run by the University of Greenwich, University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University.

How intelligent is Artificial Intelligence? It can do superhuman things, but does it have superhuman intelligence? We can have conversations with Siri and Alexa, but do they really comprehend what we’re saying and understand language the way we do?

Join Dr Neil Saunders for the next Medway Talks event on 22 February (6pm - 7pm) at the Pilkington Lecture Theatre (PK008) for an exploration of the science behind AI and a comparison of our human intelligence with the artificial.

With entertaining staged readings by professional actors, the talk will seek to reveal how our use of language is central to our understanding, which crucially distinguishes us from computers - which should shape our conversations about the benefits and dangers of the use of AI in society.

The talk is free of charge to attend, but registration is required. Further information can be found here.
