Further help and guidance

Our Moodle Help Materials cover a wide range of topics including course content, administration and assessments. The recent updates and most popular sections help you find the latest updates and trending topics.

Moodle for Beginners Training

Our workshops and clinics assume a basic knowledge of Moodle, including how to navigate around the site, and how to create basic content such as text or static files. If you are new to Moodle, please complete the online training course Moodle for Beginners before booking a Moodle Session or Clinic.

This online course was set up using a different version of Moodle and it looks a bit different from our current version, however it will teach you everything you need to know to build a basic Moodle course from scratch. The course can be started immediately and completed at your convenience and shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

Making the most of Moodle Sessions

Many of the Adjusting to Blended Learning Environment workshops have been designed to help you make the most of Moodle. They build on the Moodle for Beginners training and help you become familiar with some of the advanced functionality available.

We recommend:

  • Making the most of Moodle 2: Introducing core Moodle activities to support student engagement
  • Making the most of Moodle 3: Using analytics to monitor student engagement in the blended learning environment
  • Tumbleweed forums and other tales: using Moodle forums to maximise student engagement

Book a 15 minute one-to-one Moodle Clinic

You can also book a one-to-one appointment with the Academic Systems team. Whether you want to add a wiki or extra topics to your Moodle page, or check the logs of your Moodle course, change the layout or set up a quiz, or if need help with your Turnitin links, these Moodle clinics can help.

The Moodle Clinics are taking place on the dates below. To book your slot, enrol on the Moodle Clinic course and choose an available session. If you are unable to attend, please cancel your booking or email us in advance so your slot can be offered to someone else.

If you need any help booking your session or for any further support, please contact the IT Service Desk with details of the session you would like to attend.
