The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 12 moon mission sees the launch of a new film which features a soundtrack by a University of Greenwich academic.
Andrew Knight-Hill, Senior Lecturer in Sound Design and Music Technology, has worked on the project with trumpeter Bede Williams.
The 16-minute film, We Choose to go to The Moon, is inspired by the astronauts' pre-voyage training mission, which took place in a large crater in the New Mexico desert, known as Kilbourne Hole.
Andrew says: "I wanted to explore the textures and material of the trumpet, merging them into and out of NASA Apollo 12 transmissions. The piece seeks to evoke a sense of awe and scale, to reflect the challenge of seeking new understandings, reaching out with tools to interpret the materials around us."
Commissioned and hosted by the Las Cruces Space Festival, the film premieres with a live-streaming event at 9pm on Saturday 23 May at 9pm, followed by a Q+A session.
