The MSc in Occupational Psychology supports individuals to experience and develop their understanding of a wide range of domains where psychology impacts the workplace. This course satisfies the Stage One requirements of becoming a Chartered Occupational Psychologist, but also offers pathways to professional careers in HR, consultancy and business.
Applications are now open for both courses to start September 2022
During the course, students will have the opportunity to gain real life experience within forensic settings and will construct and carry out applied research projects in the field.
The course will deal with the subject matter of serious crime from a number of perspectives. Students will investigate the experiences of those who commit crimes as well as those who become victims of crime with a focus on evidence and how these experiences are framed by empirical research.
This programme is designed to offer students with flexibility as to how to learn and uses a blended delivery approach with online lectures to deliver core content and face-to-face seminars to build experiences of applying understanding. Wherever possible, face-to-face teaching is spread across the same two days each week to allow students with caring, work, or other such commitments to study effectively.
Driven by Psychology’s recent move to more open science, the programme is designed to support students to identify, critically engage with, synthesise, and apply bodies of evidence in Occupational Psychology. A bespoke ‘Evidence-based Practice’ module will enhance students’ employability by helping them to critically evaluate and deliver evidence-based practices as practitioners.
The programme is also designed to create practitioners capable of driving positive societal change. Modules and assessments will explicitly address topics like diversity training, sexism in leadership, workplace racism, corruption, and organisational greenwashing.
Students will be able to build their professional networks by having the opportunity to collaborate on an international research project as part of their dissertation project.
