The partnership will see workshops delivered by the LTA to students on teacher training programmes, ensuring that future teachers are equipped with the right skills to go on and deliver tennis in both primary and secondary school settings. Similar workshops will be delivered across a range of additional programmes and modules.
In addition, students will benefit from work opportunities both within the LTA and their network of local tennis providers, as part of the strategic priority to grow levels of participation across the region.
The partnership also sees the university registered as a ‘Tier 1’ partner with the LTA, which will ensure year-round support for a student tennis ambassador, including training opportunities and kit.
Alistair Higham, universities manager at the LTA, said:
It’s great to work closely with University of Greenwich on the LTA’s Tier 1 University programme. The university has a history of supporting and developing tennis and we look forward to a fruitful relationship.
Leon Annett, Head of UK Partnerships at the University of Greenwich said:
This partnership with the LTA significantly enhances our offerings to students. It strengthens our teacher training programmes with specialised tennis workshops, provides valuable work opportunities, and brings exciting benefits to our university community. We're proud to collaborate in growing tennis participation across our region while enriching our students' educational journey.
