Londoni Memoirs is a collection of portraits, curated ephemera, artefacts, heirlooms and video interviews with 12 Bangladeshi migrants who arrived in the UK during the 1950s to 1970s. The exhibition explores their experiences of migration during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War and documents how they built new lives in Britain while witnessing their homeland's independence from afar.
Seema said: “This exhibition is a personal journey in filling the gaps in my family history, particularly of my late father’s early life in the UK and reflects the experience of a whole generation and community, where once again, we’re asked who we are and where we come from?”
Alongside her role, Seema is a photography and moving-image artist, curator and producer whose work explores memory, identity and personal history through documentary and portraiture.
The exhibition will take place at Four Corners Gallery from 18 September to 10 October.
