Political Insights: Mr Koji Tsuruoka, Japanese Ambassador to the United Kingdom

Part of our Political Insights speaker series, the Ambassador will give a talk titled “Japan’s View of the World”, touching on issues including human security, political security, and investment.

The Ambassador has had a number of key roles in his career. He has served as the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs in Japan, where he acted as Japan's Chief Negotiator for the Trans-Pacific Partnership; the Deputy Vice Minister for Foreign Policy; the Director-General at the International Legal Affairs Bureau; the Director-General for Global Issues; and the Deputy Director General of the Foreign Policy Bureau from 2003 to 2006.

In addition to London, he has served in embassies in Moscow, Washington, and Jakarta. He was Chief Negotiator for services during the Uruguay Round of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, which in turn led to the creation of the World Trade Organisation.

The talk will take place 29 January from 6pm-7pm in QA080 at the Greenwich campus, with a reception following from 7pm-8pm.
