We're really pleased that Aatika will be hosting our next Start Strong, Stay Strong session - Realising Your Potential. Joining Aatika will be three Greenwich alumni who work in different industries, and they will share their insights into their journey from university to their current role.
Aatika encourages you to register for the session, saying
If you’re a student that’s interested in levelling-up, motivated to break through those barriers or even just keen to hear about and learn from the journeys of BAME change-makers - this one is for you.
The Start Strong, Stay Strong programme in its third instalment is all about realising your potential. As a person of colour, I definitely recognise the importance of representation. In a world that often imposes its barriers, seeing faces and hearing voices like ours triumphant in their efforts is a game-changer. It’s a reminder that we, too, can excel despite the hurdles.
It’s platforms like these that allow us the space to empower and be empowered - and I’d love to have you all to be a part of it.
The programme aims to provide a safe space for students to connect and establish a network of people that will uplift and celebrate one another.
The key aims of the programme are:
- To provide a supportive and positive space for students of colour to meet, network, and develop their skills.
- To raise awareness of key Students’ Union and University projects that are working towards educational equity for students of colour.
- To equip students with the tools they need to speak up against systemic oppression and drive change in their university and their lives.
What to expect:
Start Strong, Stay Strong will consist of four in-person events over the course of the academic year. The sessions will provide an opportunity to learn, discuss, reflect and network.
Students can claim 10 Greenwich Employability Passport Points for each session they attend.
Further session topics will include:
- Greenwich Students’ Union's campaigns and the Awarding Gap Project
- Realising your ambitions - Panel of alumni guest speakers
- End-of-year celebration.
