This is a conference 'for students, by students'. You can contribute to the conference in three categories, as a group or individual. Presentations can take place live online, or they can be pre-prepared or recorded.
In its second edition, The Student Conference focuses on Student Success, along its two main themes:
Theme 1: Building FOR Success
- What is success? How you do you define and articulate success?
- How can we identify and learn how we to build on our strengths that make us successful?
Theme 2: Building ON Success
- How do you know you’ve got there? What do you do when you get there?
- How do you recognise success? How do we learn from failure to achieve success?
3 ways to get involved at the conference
Presenting at conferences is a great experience and this is the perfect opportunity to get started. You’ll gain insights and develop skills to write and deliver a presentation. More than that, you will find yourself becoming a part of a network of academic and professional practitioners. You’ll get help and advice to develop your ideas and find some like-minded fellow students in the process.
To share your work at The Student Conference, fill out this form by 11 May 2022 for one of the following categories:
1. Join as a Panel Member (individual)
If you have an interest in one of the subject areas below, this is a great way to get involved. Panel members are asked to give a 10-minute talk, including time for Questions and Answers, on one of these topics:
- Success comes in all shapes and sizes
- Recognising success is more important than being successful
- Understanding your strengths and weaknesses is the first step to being successful
- Adopting a growth mindset to learn from failure
2. Submit your work as Exhibition Contributions (individual or group)
We know many of you have created posters, displays and other presentations as part of your coursework. Submitting them as Exhibition Contributions gives you the opportunity to share them with a wider audience, so we can learn from each other and celebrate your creativity and innovation. We welcome individual or group submissions.
3. Share your Student Journey Video bytes (individual or group)
This may feature your learning experiences, your student journey or anything inspirational that you’d like to share with other students. Videos should be up to 3 minutes long and can be in any format e.g. MS Stream, Panopto, TikTok, YouTube or MP4. Submissions should be provided as a link. We welcome individual or group submissions.
All work will be appropriately referenced, so please include a short description of yourself or your group and what the work represents.
Develop your skills as a student presenter
You will be supported throughout with help and advice from our Academic Support Team to develop your ideas and from the like-minded fellow students you will meet as part of the project. More than that, you will find yourself becoming a part of a network of academic and professional practitioners.
