The UK collaboration started in 2021 and has brought together thousands of organisations and millions of employees creating change to achieve Race Equality in our workplaces.
This year's theme is #ActionNotJustWords
The theme resonates greatly with us at Greenwich as we prepare to publish our full Race Action Plan next month. The Race Action Plan demonstrates our priority to make the university a welcoming and inclusive place where everyone, including our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) students and staff, can work, study and achieve their ultimate ambitions. In March we will be publicly sharing our full Race Action Plan, further demonstrating our dedication to race equality by pledging our actions in writing beyond our community.
We are proud to have our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jane Harrington, who is publicly addressing the challenges of race injustice and inequity at the university and has demonstrated commitment by creating a new ‘This is our Time’ 2030 Strategy with the required changes to build an inclusive university.
Our plan sets out concrete measures to increase the representation, progression and success of BAME students and staff, to create a diverse and culturally inclusive university community. The EDI Race Action Plan shows our commitment to stand firm and hold ourselves accountable as we step proudly towards our future and lead with courage and individuality to combat racism within our university community and beyond.
We all stand together in being that catalyst for ongoing change as advocates, allies, and inclusive leaders. Working with our senior managers, as they lead by example and progress their understanding of BAME issues supported by our BAME Network and how to tackle them.
“Together we will create a place where all staff are proud to work with each other equally, with increasing diversity among our leadership team. Race Equality will only be achieved when we all play a part.
