Getting to Dreadnought

TLDRoffon

Find out how to get to Dreadnought - whether by bus, public transport, bike or car.

Public Transport

The central location of the Dreadnought Building in King William Walk allows for excellent public transport connections, being just a 2-minute walk from the Cutty Sark DLR Station and with numerous public bus routes stopping directly outside the building. In addition, Greenwich National Rail station is about an 8-minute walk from the site.

University Bus

The university inter-campus bus service operates to and from Avery Hill and Medway Campus. Use of this service is highly recommended if you are travelling from either of those areas instead of driving or taking public transport. The service from Avery Hill is free, a ticket is required for the from Medway.

Parking

There is very limited parking space at the building. This is therefore reserved for Blue badge holders who have registered with the university permit for a permit (free of charge). You can apply online here. Access to parking is off King William Walk between the bus stops (there is no access via the Old Royal Naval College entrance). Once inside the entrance gates a 'fob' is needed to lower the bollards. Fobs are issued to permit holders from the Security office at the East Gate Lodge (accessed from Park Row). The bollards must be raised after entry. Please note King William Walk is within the town centre one-way traffic area.

The disabled parking bays at Dreadnought are not yet usable. In the meantime any disabled drivers should park at Queen Mary.  If this arrangement causes any disabled drivers they should contact Simon Earp who will investigate alternatives.

If you need to park a motorbike or scooter, please register for a permit. Parking space is provided near the East Gate Lodge and not within the Dreadnought grounds.

Cycling

While we await the secure cycle store at Dreadnought those arriving by bike can use the bike hoops on site or if preferred the secure cycle parking facility at Stockwell Street, you will need to use your Greenwich Gateway card to gain access.  Showering facilities will be available at Dreadnought in early October, until then there are showers available in Stockwell Street.

Please use the Getting to Greenwich page for more information on all of the above forms of travel.
