The event was very popular and provided a safe space for students to explore topics they may not previously have had the opportunity to discuss. Alongside Student Support Advisors, the team’s new Report + Support Student Ambassadors, Criminology students, Alifa, Francesca and Lauren, were also in attendance engaging with peers and leading conversations about the importance of consent.
Being an Report + Support ambassador during Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week was a positive and engaging experience. The spin-the-wheel activity made conversations about consent fun and approachable. Students were curious, open, and willing to reflect on the topic in a relaxed way. Overall, it was an effective way to promote awareness and encourage meaningful discussions – Alifa, Francesca and Lauren.
Along with this event, the Report + Support Team have provided information on what is sexual violence and sexual abuse, as well as how to define consent.
What is the Report + Support Service
Report + Support is the University of Greenwich’s online reporting platform for all incidences of harassment. This may include bullying, sexual misconduct, hate crime, and/or discrimination.
The service is available for students, staff, and visitors to the university and can include events that occur both on and off campus, and online, whether recent or in the past.
A trauma informed approach is taken to establish possible next steps for the individual. Since 2022, the Report + Support service has expanded to help hundreds of people. With reports being either anonymous, allowing the team to establish patterns that need addressing, or discussed with a member of the team, Report + Support provides a system lead by you for you.
