The partnership between the University of Greenwich and Charlton Athletic FC is about much more than football. It is a long-standing collaboration built on shared values of community, inclusion, opportunity and local impact. Together, we create opportunities that bring people together, strengthen connections across our region, and provide memorable experiences for our students, staff, alumni and partners.
Throughout last season, hundreds of students, staff and alumni attended Charlton matches through the partnership, demonstrating the growing appeal of live sport as a way to connect with the wider Greenwich community. Across 24 fixtures last season, 776 discounted ticket codes were requested, highlighting the strength of engagement and enthusiasm for the partnership.
Why this partnership matters
As two organisations deeply rooted in south-east London, the University of Greenwich and Charlton Athletic share a commitment to making a positive difference in our communities. Through our work together, we promote inclusion, celebrate diversity, create opportunities for engagement and provide experiences that enrich university life.
Events such as Red, White and Black Day and Football v Homophobia have demonstrated the power of sport to bring people together around important social issues, helping to create a sense of belonging both on and off the pitch. Our Partnership Day offers an opportunity to celebrate these shared achievements while showing support for one of the university's key community partners.
