University of Greenwich appoints new head of school

Dr Beverly Joshua has been appointed Head of School of Health Sciences at the University of Greenwich

Dr Joshua is currently the Head of Nursing at the University of East London, a role she has held since 2019, and is an experienced Intensive Care Nurse. She has worked as a nurse educator and course director at universities since 2005.

A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Dr Joshua has worked clinically in cardio-thoracic nursing in the United Kingdom and abroad, having worked in South Africa and Egypt.

Working with Health Care students from multicultural and diverse learning backgrounds inspired Beverly’s doctoral research where she investigated the correlation between students’ learning approaches and their clinical decision-making, to encourage students to adopt the deep approach to learning. She presented her thesis at the International Nursing Conference in Singapore in 2015 and the European Doctoral Conference in Switzerland in 2016. Beverly is the co-author of 'Professional values and practice' in the Introduction to Nursing for First-Year Students.

Dr Joshua will commence her role in March 2023.
