This is why there's rowing machines in the Dreadnought Atrium at Greenwich, the Dome at Avery Hill and in the Deep End at Medway.
Thank you to everyone who's already been quietly clocking up the miles, including our Vice Chancellor Prof Jane Harrington and GSU President, Henry Setter. We're approaching our first 500 miles, but there's still a long way to go, so every mile and metre count.
If you want to help us add to our totals, the rowing machines will be around each campus until Friday 13 March - Sport Relief Day. You'll also find rowing machines in each of our campus gyms, and every mile counts. Even those you row at home, or in your own gym*.
Share your miles on social media
Either use the tweet below, or tag us on Instagram - we're @uniofgreenwich - we want to see your progress. We'll be sharing more on all of our channels, and will be sure to let you know when we reach those major milestones.
Row Britannia is a national rowing challenge
The initiative, created by Phil Packer MBE, is designed to raise positive awareness of mental health within university communities and raise funds for Sport Relief. You can find out more on the Row Britannia website.
In order to rise to the challenge we will need the support of all students and staff to get involved and support in whatever way they can. You don't need to be a Sir Steve Redgrave or have even rowed before to take part - you can contribute by rowing 100m, 1000m or as many metres as you can muster.
If you would prefer you could host a bake sale to help raise funds for Sport relief and support the countless projects they deliver to communities across the world.
