Join writer and filmmaker Celestine Fraser at 12.30-2PM on 21 October 2026 for a thought-provoking talk on the intersection of queerness and disability.
Why are so many LGBTQ+ people disabled? will explore the overlaps between queer and disabled communities: their parallel experiences of marginalisation but also of pride, joy and resilience.
Bringing together lived experience, stats and cultural analysis, Celestine's talk will examine physical and mental health within the LGBTQ+ community, the links between neurodiversity and gender diversity, and why people who already hold one marginalised identity might be more open to embracing another. The event will conclude with an interactive workshop inviting participants to imagine a university experience that is truly inclusive of its queer disabled community.
