WinterFest is our festival of skills to welcome you to the start of the new year. Whether you’re studying from home or staying with us on campus, you’ll be able to participate in our interactive sessions. There are plenty of useful, informative and fun sessions to support you whatever your academic needs.

Starting out with your studies: Get tips on how to approach your studies, what to expect for your assignments and how you can collaborate and work with fellow students.
Returning to Study: Get advice on how to make the most of your study time, find out what services are available for mature learners and how to get a head start with your studies.
Get into the learning mindset: Find out how you to develop a growth mindset and how this can change your learning habits and your perspective to all aspects of life.
What is critical thinking: Learn about the role of questioning as essential to the critical process and how it differs from description.
Your Digital Learning at university: We will explore resources which will help you develop the digital skills needed for your studies and reflect upon the digital capabilities we need to operate in a digital society successfully and confidently.
Beginning your Reading: Join our skills tutors as they take you through some reading techniques and help you identify which ones suit your needs.
What is a reading list and how much should I read: Learn about your reading lists - where you can find them, how much you should read and how they can help you build your knowledge of your subjects.
Academic Integrity, the big picture: Find out about plagiarism, how to avoid it and develop your academic integrity.
What is Academic Writing: Gain an understanding of writing styles and how academic writing differs from other writing tasks.
Studiosity Essay Checking Service: Learn about our online service that will give you detailed feedback on your essays and can help you improve your academic writing skills.
Beginning your Research: Our stage-by-stage approach covers topics like: What to research, using keywords to narrow your search, identifying library resources and keeping track of your research.
Managing references for your dissertation: Find out how to use reference tools like Mendeley for in-text citations in assignments and to build your bibliography and reference list.

Your wellbeing is important to us and vital to your success as a student. Our WinterFest team also bring you information about the wide range of support available to support you.
Our Employability and Careers Service are running an introductory session to their services, how to write a winning CV and covering letter, and how to rock your LinkedIn profile and make the most of LinkedIn Learning.
For practical support, join our Finance workshop for information about Fees and Funding, or our introduction to the Student Wellbeing Service to find out about our services covering disability and dyslexia, mental health and counselling.
Make connections in our sessions about our peer mentoring and development programmes, and an introduction to our Greenwich Students’ Union. International Students can join two sessions on how to manage the transition between your home country and the UK, and an International Student welcome and question and answer session.
