Our STAART ART competitions were first launched in March 2020 with the aim to create an inclusive, mindful, and creative community where we can encourage, connect, and inspire each other.
Our competitions take place three times a year and are all inclusive; anyone can take part, any age and from anywhere across the globe. Our most recent competition had the theme of ‘Numbers’ and the engagement has been absolutely phenomenal.
All 62 entries we received showcased a spark in the community that we thoroughly embrace. The winners are calculated by tallying up likes and shares the pictures receive on the STAART ART Facebook page. Our most recent competition attracted over 150 new members to the platform and our entries have received over 1850 likes and shares. Our youngest participant from 4 years old and oldest disclosed participant 56.
The Numbers STAART ART competition received entries from all over the world. As not all of the artists shared their locations, we are aware of images posted from India, Pakistan, Romania, Nigeria and Mexico. and new members joining our community from the Philippines (some 6,500 miles away from our Medway campus). The competition brings new meanings to Robert Rauschenberg’s famous quote "Art has no borders”.
Our top three winners receive Amazon gift vouchers totalling £90.
In first place receiving a £50 voucher was Tegan, 10, who did a very beautiful colouring of the rainbow colours.
In second place, receiving a £20 Amazon voucher was Sumita, who entered our competition from India with an amazing illustration of a duck incorporating the number 29.
Third place was secured by Annabelle, 6, from Portsmouth with a fantastic illustration of a ship at sea integrating a variety of numbers into the seascape titled “Numbers at sea”!
The STAART ART Gallery has now been installed on our Medway Campus and is also due to be installed on the main Greenwich Campus this week.
Our 6 Runners-up have been added to the gallery and have submitted some fantastic entries which include Emma, 32 with her pastel number otter; Enid, 7, Gillingham, with an artistic illustration of a number crocodile; Madison, 7, Portsmouth, with her entry titled "Rainbow 7 with an 8 pot of gold"; Betsy, 6, Portsmouth, for her crayon under acrylic “Number Squad”; Anthony, 38, Chatham, with the entry “Meaning of meaningless”; and Georgia, 11, with her number caricatures.
This competition has reached over 25,656 Facebook feeds over the course of 3 months and we now have 485 members across the world. We will shortly be announcing our next STAART ART Prize Competition. It will be our biggest competition so far, in fact, it will be HUGE.
