Lord Hain

Peter Hain has been active in UK politics since the late 1960's becoming known for his leadership of the campaigns to stop the tours by South African rugby and cricket teams in 1969 and 1970. He was elected as the Labour MP for Neath in 1991.  Among other Ministerial appointments he was Secretary of State for Wales (2002-08 and 2009-10), Secretary of State for Northern Ireland 2005-07), leader of the House of Commons (2003-05) and Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (2007-08). He has served as member of the House of Lords since 2015.
