Career-focused degrees
Our degree programmes are designed with the needs of the industry you'll be joining in mind and over 100 of them are accredited by external professional and regulatory bodies. This means that you'll be exempt from certain professional exams and in some cases will automatically become a member of the professional body you're planning to join.
Industrial placements
Many degree programmes include work placements which allow you to get out into industry, make new contacts and gain hands-on experience during your studies. A placement helps you develop key skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, a positive attitude to change and an understanding of the world of work. As well as invaluable work experience relevant to your programme, you could walk away with a graduate job offer at the end of your placement.
Amazing mentors
Our past students (or alumni as we call them) are an impressive bunch and can do a lot to help you get your first break through mentoring, work experience and their industry contacts. We have excellent relationships with employers so you can also look forward to one-to-one mentoring from industry professionals.
Work taster opportunities
Get an idea of what it's like to work in industry and work on live projects solving real business problems with our paid internships. There are even opportunities on campus, which give you the chance to get paid for working for the university.
Career advice and tools
From the day you join the university, our Employability & Careers Service is on hand with heaps of advice and tools to help you achieve your goals. Search for volunteer and part-time work as well as graduate jobs on our exclusive jobs board. Use our CV builder, interview simulator, advice videos and podcasts to gain the edge at application and interview stage. Take practice psychometric tests to ensure you sail through this nerve-wracking part of the recruitment process.
Incentives and rewards
You can earn points and work towards rewards that will help you on your path to your first graduate job from day one at the university. Our Greenwich Employability Passport (GEP) rewards you for activities outside of your studies and earns you a certified statement from the university of your achievements as well as a LinkedIn recommendation.
Entrepreneur competitions
Have you always wanted to run your own business? Or do you have an amazing idea that you want to test out? Our Enterprise Challenge is our answer to Dragons' Den and is a brilliant place to start. The winner in 2017 is civil engineering student Kamal Farid, whose road surface idea could save the UK's transport companies billions of pounds and earned him £5,000 in prize money. He plans to use the money on more testing and to patent his idea.
