This session aims to provide guidance on the principles and practice of research ethics. It will provide details on the principles governing research involving humans and their applications in practice. The University of Greenwich policy on research ethics will be outlined and the ethical approval process discussed in the context of the University Research Ethics Committee (UREC) and faculty research ethics committee approval procedures. The session will include obtaining informed consent, safeguarding research participants and the researcher, external permissions, withdrawal of consent, application dos and don’ts, and data protection considerations relevant to research. Courses are free for all staff and PGRs. Please note, however, your Faculty/Directorate will be charged if you fail to attend or cancel without a justifiable reason, within the timeframe specified in the Training Events Cancellation guidelines. Attendance / participation at each session will be noted by RETI, and certification will be issued for each area completed.
