Midlife Pain-Gut Connection: What Menopause Changes and What We Can Do About It

28th Oct 2026 1pm - 2pm

This activity takes place online

Join Dr Chioma James for an informative online session exploring the connection between menopause, gut health and chronic pain, along with practical approaches to supporting wellbeing.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the main reasons pain can feel worse in midlife, including changes in joints, muscles, sleep and stress, and how menopause hormones fit into that picture.
  • Have a clear, simple picture of how the gut “talks” to the rest of the body, including the immune system and the brain.
  • Tell the difference between what good research actually supports and what is mostly marketing or social-media hype.
  • Use the PAUSE framework to take small, safe steps with pain tracking, food, movement and sleep without cutting out lots of foods or buying expensive supplements.
  • Know the warning signs that mean “this needs a doctor, nurse or specialist now”, rather than trying to handle it alone.
  • Think about how culture, ethnicity, disability, shift work and caring responsibilities can make pain and gut symptoms feel different and identify at least one way to adapt the seven-day plan to their own life.

Please join the session on Microsoft Teams here.
