The Role of Nature in Health and Wellbeing – Sarah Hourigan, Founder of Nature Therapy Ireland

13th May 2021 1pm - 2pm

This activity takes place online

Never have we been so removed from the natural world, especially those of us that live and work in cities. The good news is that even a small amount of time spent in nature can have a positive impact on our physical and mental health and wellbeing. This session will guide participants in exploring their connection to nature, offer invitations to spark their creativity and create a sense community. The history, science and current practices of nature connection will be woven into the session leaving participants with tools to bring into their own lives. This workshop will provide up to date research that is accessible and inclusive for all participants. Invitations will be relatable, attainable and actionable whether a participant has access to nature imagery, indoor house plants, an urban park, mountain or woodland. There is no right or wrong way to connect to nature! This engaging workshop is not one to be missed.

About Nature Therapy Ireland:

Nature Therapy Ireland (NTI) was founded by Sarah Hourigan in 2020 with the simple aim of helping you to rediscover your connection to nature and in doing so improve your physical and mental health and wellbeing. Sarah has a masters degree in applied psychology from Trinity College Dublin. After a number of years working in health research, she decided to pursue a career in the outdoors and went on to complete courses in Forest Bathing, Wild Therapy, Ecopsychology, Forest Therapy, Mountaineering and Wilderness Safety. Sarah sits on the committee of the Ecopsychology and Ecotherapy Association of Ireland. Sarah draws on elements from each of these practices and her life long passion for spending time in nature to tailor NTI events specifically for each individual and group she works with. NTI hosts weekly online circles and outdoor events across Ireland and strives to make nature connection work as accessible and inclusive as possible.
