My PhD research examines the fairness of large-scale renewable energy projects in the European periphery, with a comparative focus on Scotland and Sardinia. Drawing on research into compensation mechanisms, willingness-to-accept, and quasi-experimental methods including difference-in-differences, I examine the conditions under which the energy transition can be made fairer for peripheral regions in Europe and beyond, taking a heterodox and decolonial perspective.

Prior to my PhD, I worked in the fields of mineral traceability and diplomacy and, earlier in my career, in my father’s small family business in central Sardinia. I am also engaged in activism in Sardinia around a just energy transition, opposition to the militarisation of the island, and Sardinia’s right to self-determination. I contribute commentary and analysis on Sardinian politics and society to various Sardinian newspapers and online publications. In 2024, I stood as a candidate for the Sardinian Parliament.
