Dr Sathees Kunjuthamby PhD, SFHEA, MSc, PgCAPHE, BA (Hons)

Senior Lecturer in Business Management

Dr Sathees Kunjuthamby is a Senior Lecturer in Business Management at University of Greenwich, Greenwich Business School. He works within the School of Business, Operations and Strategy (BOS). He holds a PhD in Strategy and Applied Management from Coventry University (UK) and has been a full-time lecturer since 2013, with over 12 years of experience in teaching, leadership, and transnational education (TNE).

He’s a four-time teaching award winner, a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) (since 2021) and successfully maintained CMBE (Certified Management Business Educator) accreditation on six occasions between 2019 and 2025.

Internationalisation is central to his academic practice. With +8 years of experience as a Link Tutor for Transnational Education, he is actively involved in supporting and guiding TNEs through ongoing Link Tutor responsibilities. He currently holds the role of International Partnerships Link Tutor, overseeing global partnerships for Greenwich Business School.

He led 18 COILs / VE projects with several international partners and taught internationally, including at Toulouse Education in France (holding triple accreditation AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS), Universidad de Burgos (Spain), and as a Flying Faculty Lecturer in Hong Kong (5+ years). Moreover, he designed and led 10 international and 2 virtual field trips across Asia, Europe, and North America and 2 summer schools in Italy and 3 winter schools at Greenwich.

Moreover, he held several leadership roles, including Associate Link Tutorship (Hong Kong and Singapore), Director of International Partnerships, Course Director and Associate Course Director for MSc Project Management (APM accredited), International Partner Course Director (Malaysia and France), and School COIL Lead.

His research focuses on strategic alliances, alliance risk, and internationalisation in higher education.

Responsibilities within the university

  • International Partnerships Link Tutor (Transnational Education): Providing pedagogic leadership for cross-campus programme delivery, ensuring curriculum alignment, assessment parity, and high-quality learning experiences for international cohorts across 11 programs at 5 TNEs.
  • International & Student Mobility Lead: Developing and delivering academic mobility programmes (winter/summer schools) that enhance global learning, intercultural competence, and experiential education
  • Module Leader: Year 1, Level 4: International Business Functions
  • Module Teaching Team Member (seminar delivery, marking, and student support): Undergraduate, Year 3, Level 6: Managing Strategy; Strategy for Managers; Internationalisation, Technology and Governance; International Human Resource Management Postgraduate, Level 7: Managing Across Cultures

Research / Scholarly interests

Sathees’s research interests span two key areas. The first examines premature alliance termination, with a focus on relational and performance risk, and governance choice. The second examines internationalisation in higher education, with a focus on project-based learning (PBL) and collaborative online international learning (COIL) as pedagogical approaches.
