Sharan Sivakumar BBA, MSc, MRes

My PhD research investigates what explains the long-run decline in the UK’s fixed capital investment since the 1970s, particularly the causes of its sharp contraction in the early 1990s and the failure to increase investment levels thereafter, applying shift-share decomposition to national accounts and sector-level data. My supervisors are Dr Rob Calvert Jump, Dr Alexander Guschanski and Dr Rafael Wildauer.

Before starting my PhD, I pursued an MRes in International Relations and an MSc in Economics, Banking and Finance, both degrees from the University of Glasgow, and a BBA from IÉSEG School of Management, Lille, France.

I am working part-time as a graduate trainee tutor at Goldsmiths, University of London, teaching quantitative economics for undergraduate students.
